If ATV and off-road riding is your style, there are numerous designated OHV areas including the Crane Mountain OHV, High Desert MX, Christmas Valley San Dunes and snowmobile trails accessing Winter Rim.
For rest and relaxation, roughly 10 miles to the south is Summer Lake Hot Springs. This 100-year old attraction has both rock-walled hot spring tubs and a larger indoor pool. The hot springs are open year round, 24 hours a day. Another popular stop is the Cowboy Dinner Tree Restaurant near the town of Silver Lake. Known for great steaks, generous portions, make sure you have reservations and come ready to eat!
