In 1980, the Ranger Station and Depot were listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The depot was modeled after those used by the US Army that supplied troops with fresh horses in the Old West. The Hiawatha mountain bike trail is 15 miles in length with 10 train tunnels and 7 sky-high trestles along the way.
