Ask Ron Westover
Gary's Get Away is a 33.1 acre property near Prince
Gallitzin State Park. The land lays slightly
to moderately sloped along a secondary road offering a place of privacy. The
property has a unique mix of semi-open acreage to wooded. A nice view can be seen to the
northwest.
This is a neatly shaped
rectangular piece of property with 600 feet of road frontage along Swartz
Road. An entrance area with a small
parking area is near the southeast corner.
There is an old stone foundation and spring in the
northeast section of the property. The property is approximately 60% wooded,
with the balance in grasses, small pines, and hardwood trees from a reclaim
project. There is harvestable timber on
the property. The last harvest was 16
years ago. At present, the timber value
is estimated to be $10,000 to $12,000.
The wooded area is made up of the following mixed hardwoods: red oak, white oak, soft maple, and some
other miscellouous species. Hemlock is
found in the southwestern corner. A
small stream also runs through the southwest corner. There are some former logging roads that could
be restored to walking trails, or utilized for ATV riding.
Location Location
Location!!! This property is in a great location for rest, relaxation, and
recreation. Prince Gallitzin State Park is
right around the corner. Glendale Lake covers 1635 acres. The Glendale Lake Boat launch is only
3.7 miles away. The Park offers boating,
fishing, hiking, swimming, and bicycling.
Rock Run Recreation Park is about 3.5 miles away. This is a park with 120 miles of trails for
ATV's and UTV's. State Game Land 108 is
just a little over a mile down the road. Chest Creek, a stocked trout stream is 7
miles to the west. Cambrian Hills Golf
Course is less than 20 minutes away. Lots to do here!
The property offers some opportunities to develop
habitat for deer. With a nice mix of
nut bearing hardwoods, low cover species, and grasses, it is prime time to plan
out a food plot. Good deer sign was found throughout the
property.
The property has been surveyed, and some survey markings
can be found on the lines. There is not
electric available at the property. There
is electric service approximately .5 miles north of the property at the
intersection of Swartz Road and St Lawrence Road. There has not been any testing for a septic. Gary's
Get Away is a great place to pull in the RV, camping, or an off the grid
cabin. Set yourself up to see the scenic
view.
Travel is accommodating with Route 53 to the east and
Route 36 to the west.
