Christopher is a licensee in the Great State of Oregon where he was raised on a cattle ranch in Burns. He still owns and operates this ranch with his brother, Matthew. The Smith Brothers Ranch is a working cattle ranch that also provides habitat for many species including Deer, Elk, Antelope, Chucker, Quail, and Sage Grouse. The ranch has entered into cooperative agreements with the United States Department of Agriculture to preserve a portion of the property for these species. He has been an avid sportsman throughout his life. During high school, he moved with his family to Virginia due to his father being elected to 2nd Congressional district of Oregon. After graduating, he worked as a lobbying assistant for the National Cattlemen's Association. He then traveled to Chicago where he spent a year as a research assistant for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He worked with industry traders in the Cattle, Feeder Cattle, Hog, and Lumber pits.He then enrolled at Oregon State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture and Resource Economics. Following college, Christopher was employed by Monterey County Cattle Feeders in Gonzales California where he managed a cattle feed yard owned by a Japanese company engaged in replicating the quality of Kobe beef. Angus feeder cattle were substituted and were placed on feed for up to a year then sent fresh to Japan. Christopher also spent a year with an Irrigation District in Redmond Oregon and then managed the concrete portion of Deschutes Ready Mix in Bend. He then spent a stint with a Congressional office as an agricultural manager of constituent services and then joined his father in an agriculture consultation firm; where he currently serves as President. The firm has represented municipalities, irrigation interests, as well as general agriculture including timber. Through these experiences he has fostered many relationships throughout the State of Oregon which will serve him well in representing you in all of your land and wildlife real estate needs.Christopher currently serves on the Jackson County Fair Board and is a member of the "One Campaign" - where he is assisting Cascade Christian High School with a land acquisition to be used as an athletic complex in Medford, Oregon.
