Property Description

MICHIGAN 314.5+/- ACRE RECREATIONAL PARCEL FOR SALE! This property is located on M-26 in Greenland Township in east-central Ontonagon County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is located just northeast of the Intersection of M-38 and M-26. This property is large enough for a group to purchase and reserve choice areas for hunting and trapping. About 1,320 Feet of seasonal creek flows through the center of the property. It is a tributary of the Firesteel River and the Flintsteel River. The Firesteel River receives its water from the 42-mile East Branch, and the 29-mile West Branch - which flows through the Ottawa National Forest and State Forest Lands. Over 18-miles long, the Main Branch empties into Lake Superior. The Firesteel River is a "Michigan Blue Ribbon Trout Stream". Fishing is fantastic for Native Rainbows, Browns and Brook trout! Thousands of Brown Trout are stocked at the mouth of the Firesteel River where it meets Lake Superior. The Spring season brings a yearly fresh run of Lake Superior steelhead up the river. Fall Salmon also find their way up the Firesteel River from Lake Superior. The Flintsteel is over 28 miles long, and the outlet of this stream located just 6.3 miles from the Village of Ontonagon. (You can find it on the TenmilePoint USGS topo map). You can drive from this property to Sandstone Rapids, Grand Rapids, Irish Rapids and the O Kun De Kun for waterfall hikes, as well as to Bob Lake for some good Perch, Sunfish, and Walleye fishing, and Courtney Lake (a designated Trout Lake) for some great Brook trout fishing. Adjoining this property to the North and West are thousands of acres of Corporate CFA Lands for additional walk-in access for additional hunting, trapping, and fishing in season. To the east of the property are State of Michigan lands. This area is known for excellent recreational opportunities - Game species including Whitetail deer, Black bear, Bobcat, and Ruffed grouse and Woodcock are abundant. The groomed Multi-Use State Trail No. 12 and 13 converge just to the south-west, in Greenland. There you can access Ontonagon County's over 130 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Trails 12 and 13 connect to the Bill Nicholls OHV - ORV - ATV Trail No. 8. It is part of 350 miles of groomed and marked trails for snowmobiling enthusiasts which passes through some of the most beautiful scenery in the Midwest. This trail system connects with the Upper Peninsula's 2,500 miles trails as well as northern Wisconsin's trail system. Rockhounds can find malachite, azurite, chrysocolla, and other supergene minerals at "Adventure Mountain" which is just south west of the property near Mass City. The mine offers four guided underground tours, and at the Adventure Mine site are miles of free-use hiking and mountain biking trails through the forest by old foundations and early prospect pits, and even up to the top of Adventure Bluff. It is one of the most unique and challenging single-track trails in the Midwest! Call for information about recreational property today The CF specific rate for 2017-2021 is $1.30 per acre annually. The specific rate increases 5 cents every 5 years. All lands listed in the CFA Program must be open to the public for fishing, hunting, and trapping (foot access). Some new Owners may want to switch their CFA Lands into a newer Michigan program called the Qualified Forest Program. The purpose of the Qualified Forest Program (QFP) is to encourage landowners to actively manage their privately owned forests for commercial harvest, wildlife habitat enhancement, and improvement of other non-forest resources. In exchange for managing their forests in a sustainable fashion, the landowner will receive an exemption from the local school operating millage. The CFA Program does not allow the construction of cabins on the land, QFA Programs may allow the construction of cabins. We have experts on our team that can give you these answers.  MLS# 1123356
