About Sonia Maksim

I started my Real Estate career in 2014 as a Transaction Coordinator with absolutely no real estate experience. A Transaction Coordinator must be very detailed oriented, and I knew from my past careers that this would not be an issue. It wasn't long before I was handling multiple real estate transactions at one time and keeping everything updated and on schedule.

My experience comes from 20 + years in the automotive industry as a Warranty Administrator, Service Advisor, Dispatcher and even a Service Manager! In 2009, my husband and I decided to start our own Pet Supply Retail Store, so I left Automotive and jumped into Retail which I didn't have any experience in either. We started this company from scratch, which meant finding retail space, setting up a retail store, ordering inventory and running all the accounting processes. Detail oriented!!

In 2017, my daughter started at Oregon State University and when we would go to visit, my husband and I didn't want to leave and thought that maybe it was time to make a change. So in 2018, we moved from California to the cute area of Alvadore Oregon. We live on 5 acres in a beautiful 1912 remodeled craftsman home with our 3 horses, 1 dog and 3 cats. Our real estate agent was Venus McBride and when she found out I had been working as a Transaction Coordinator, she told Lisa Johnson that she needed to hire me!!! I have been with Horsepower Real Estate since 2018 and not only working as a Transaction Coordinator but assisting Lisa and the other agents with all the other real estate functions. They keep me busy for sure! I decided in 2020 that it was time to buckle down and study for my Real Estate License which I completed and passed the exam in 2021!

Moving to Oregon was a big step for us. Our house in California was home to my husband since the 1970s and I had lived there since 1990. We raised his two kids there and our daughter as well. I know leaving a home, family and friends isn't always easy, but I look forward to helping others with those decisions and making the transition to a new place easy and as less stressful as possible.
