A native of Northern California, John grew up on a rice, tomato, and asparagus farm in Woodland, CA. He went on to boarding school at Robert Louis Stevenson in Pebble Beach and then graduated in 1993 from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture Business with an emphasis in Marketing.
