Dan Empie

Dan is a professional forester and natural resource manager graduating from the SUNY ESF in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in forestry and resource management. For the past 27 years, Dan has worked closely with forest landowners either as a forestry consultant or procurement forester. As a lifelong resident of upstate NY Dan has an appreciation for all the fantastic outdoor recreational opportunities that exist here. As outdoor enthusiasts, he and his wife Carol love to explore by foot or kayak 'just around the corner' and spend time grooming their own 100 acre woodlot near Number Four, in the Adirondacks. Currently, Dan manages his own forestry consulting business, Forest Pond Forestry, LLC outside of Lowville. He believed there was another niche to be filled in his backyard that stimulated his desire to obtain his real estate sales license during the spring of 2010.

Testimonials

For over three years since the death of my foster mother, I tried to market my old farm land that sat vacate for 40 years. Dan Empie however saw the beauty of the woods and wildlife preserve that was filled with timber and game. I could not move back to build my dream retreat nor would I sell to the loggers and gravel contractors. I was stuck in a northern paradise I could not mover back to. I tried other Realtors who listed and forgot about it. It was very discouraging. I was referred to Timberland Realty by a friend who had just had his property logged successfully and highly recommended Dan Empie as a known professional forester. I initially called Dan to have the farm logged as a last resort. Dan convinced me to hang on and gave me a realistic approach to land value and current market conditions. Dan walked the property and took pictures to show the true unspoiled beauty and look past the buildings at the way the farm was when I grew up there, the old stone walls in the fields, the blackberries and the beautiful ponds and fields of white birch, unspoiled and untouched. Dan was able to market the property in such a way that the buyers saw the farm the way I cherished the memories and he brought me a cash buyer I now have peace of mind. Thank God and St. Joseph.

I would recommend Dan Empie to anyone in Northern New York, who needs to sell their property. Not only did he always respond promptly, but he always handled himself in a very professional manner. I cannot emphasize enough about how he always followed up on all details concerning my land sale. His forestry background was certainly a plus. I greatly appreciated his time and working with him was an overall great experience.

I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciated all you have done for me selling my land in upstate New York. Vacant land in New York is beautiful and I am pleased how you were able to find a buyer for each of the properties. I am a hunter and have my camp with 300 acres and you were able to sell my other two parcels of 80 acres and 102 acres to people who really appreciate the beauty of forest land and the flora and animals that are plentiful up there. You took the time to walk all the properties with the clients and point out the trees, flowers, beaver huts, deer tracks, buck rubs, old maple sugar shacks, etc. That is truly how someone would love the area of upstate New York. Most importantly you knew how to price both properties fairly in today's ever changing real estate market that was fair to the buyer and the seller. I have recommended you to friends and neighbors in the area if they have land to sell. Thanks again for being so helpful and so dedicated to sell my properties

We would like to acknowledge the professional manner in which Dan Empie handled the sale of our camp and timberland. From the first time we met Dan we felt he was trustworthy and very honest. Along with his abundant knowledge of timber sales and recreational properties, he was always available to us whenever we contacted him. The promptness of immediately returning phone calls was greatly appreciated. If we were ever to buy or sell another property we would not hesitate to contact Dan.

We started looking for property to build our dream home in 2017. Once we found a piece of property we were interested in and not knowing how to proceed, we search the internet and found Dan Empie at Timberland Realty a professional forester and associate real estate broker. We contacted Dan to see if he would assist us. Dan willingly accepted and walked the property with us and was very knowledgeable on every detail. Not only did he walk the property and told us the value of the land he also became our buyers agent. Dan knew every step from start to finish. He was always answering our calls and questions when needed. We never had to worry as Dan took great care of processing the procedure in helping us buy the property before and after the offer was accepted. We can't thank Dan and Timberland Realty enough for helping us buy our 102 acres that we now call our home, Pioneer Acres.

We met Dan Empie when we relocated to the Lewis County area. We initially met when he was the realtor for a wonderful couple who offered us the opportunity to rent their home in the town of Watson while it was on the market. Once we began looking for a home to purchase, we immediately though of Dan. Not only is he a local favorite realtor for unique rural properties, but also an experienced forester who understands the value of land in the area. We knew from the start we were going to be picky; we were searching for the perfect home tucked away from the road with plenty of acreage. When we saw the listing on Zillow the day it was posted, we immediately gave Dan a call. I believer he was able to set up a viewing within the next day or two. As we toured the home and walked all 53 acres with Dan, we knew it was the perfect place for us. After sleeping on the decision, we let Dan know we wanted to put in an offer. Working though holidays and his anniversary (if I remember correctly), Dan was able to get our offer in before many other interested potential buyers could. After our offer was accepted, Dan was always there to explain every step along the way, from accompanying us on the home inspection, to recommending a local lawyer, to be one of the first to wish us good luck in our new home. Thank you Dan and Timberland Realty for helping us secure our new home. We look forward to many years living among the trees on Wildcat Road! Sincerely, Matt & Rachel
